Complexities

life is such a mixture
of good and bad,
known and unknown,
life and death

 
thinking I understand it all,
I am blindsided by a
crazy, convoluted circumstance
expected to handle it, I am overwhelmed
 
I almost give up, but by holding on to
memories of successful survival
I get past the situation
and grow stronger for the effort
